My artwork practice started once I left Melbourne and moved to Sydney in the mid 1980’s, after gaining formal art education I operated an art studio in Sydney where I sketched and painted for art collectors of portraits. In the early to mid-2000 Graphic design and illustration became a source of income, later I started painting for exhibitions and competitions, sold paintings and illustrations, and as follows are the details of my art journey:

I moved to Sydney in 1984, entered the East Sydney Technical College (now known as the National Australian Art School) in Darlinghurst where I graduated with a Diploma in Fine Arts, after graduation I operated my own art studio from premises at Menzies Arcade near Pitt Street, Sydney also drawing sketches of people which included the Hotel Intercontinental Sydney, before contracting graphic design/illustration to the NSW Mining (2000/2002) a painting was exhibited in Parliament House NSW and then the Defence Department (2002/2008) as a graphic designer/illustrator during my employment I was commission to paint aircraft murals throughout the base. A group exhibition at the Silos Winery and paintings at the Precinct Gallery, both located southern NSW during 2004/2005.

My many portrait commissions have been accepted in numerous exhibitions including Sydney’s Portia Geach Prize as well as for the State Library of the Northern Territory. Portrait Painting from life demonstration for the public, at Mt Best Community Centre, South Gippsland Victoria 2010. Pyrenees Art Exhibition in Avoca Victoria 2013. Awarded 1st Prize for a portrait 2013 Beaufort Agricultural Show and selected for “the people’s choice award” 2014 at the Adelaide Kennedy Arts Foundation for a Portrait Painting.

In 2015 I was selected for a group exhibition at the Ballarat Regional Art Gallery “Director’s Cut” Exhibition and in the City of Ballarat’s Back Space Gallery with a group exhibition held in conjunction with the visiting Archibald Prize Exhibition. Participated in a Group Exhibition held at Chapel off Chapel Street Gallery, “Art Town” Melbourne April 2015.

Avoca Information Centre Gallery, Victoria February 2015 I exhibited a collection of paintings and artwork/sketches on various themes depicting the Gold Rush in Central Victoria & NSW, as well as landscape paintings and portraiture.

In 2016 selected for group exhibition Victor Harbor Adelaide and group exhibition for the Fleurieu Food Wine & Art Prize Mclaren Vale 2016.

I have travelled throughout regional NSW and Victoria and my journeys are reflected in my paintings and drawings that I am currently working to exhibit and enter competitions such as the “Live in Art 2020”. I now operate my art practice from Narooma NSW.
